I set the camera up on this Jam tonight because my friend at Lidwish Soulutions has been taking good care of me while I try out his new sticks, so I will offer him any video clips he might like to use to help promote the product. They are great sticks.
Anyway, I've avoided making any commitment to playing music regularly for over ten years, but these guys play just the type of jams I enjoy so I'm starting to play more often & was happy with this low rent video off a still camera stuck on a conga drum in the corner, with the second warm-up jam of the night, an original that I only just heard tonight...
Island Sign was honored recently, by the request to produce and install all the graphics for a new exhibit at The Maui Ocean Center, Hawaii’s Top Rated Family Attraction! (Zagat Survey US Family Travel Guide)
This new Coral Reefs exhibit, with its interactive models and live coral examples, is comprised of about 35 feet of full color artwork, prepared by Geoff Moore of Silver Moon Design, and several cut out openings in the wall for aquarium tanks, a video screen, & a cutaway glimpse into a coral sculpture. The display also incorporates electronic devices to activate lighting & audio...
I was telling a friend how you can embed Youtube links into your own blog, so when you are writing in other venue's (bulletin boards, FB, twitter etc...) and you want to share something humorous, valuable, interesting or otherwise worth sharing, you can be linking people to your blog, so they may stay awhile & look around...
this may also encourage others to post links for their friends to check it out so, it's one way that having a blog, & using social networking can help raise awareness of who you are & what you are doing.
The above discussion came from the sharing of a funny video....
Brian Hoff of The design Cubicle offers this list of questions on his blog. I think it is an excellent resource for myself and other designers to consider in our design consultations, as well as for any of my potential clients to consider themselves when brainstorming their own design needs.

1- How would you describe your services and/or products?

3- Why do you want a new logo? (if they already have one) What do you want your new logo to accomplish?
This question helps to understand the problem.
4- Who are your main competitors?

This job was a while ago, but I wrote about it at the time, because I thought it was an interesting example of the way things work sometimes, regarding customers asking for one thing, & my efforts to discover if something else entirely would better serve them.
The call came in Thursday afternoon...
"Do you make those magnet signs?"
..yeah, I do those
"do you sell the blank material?"
...well, sometimes, but not as a rule.. what do you need them for?
"well I'm having my car transported across the country & I thought I should put signs on it to advertise my internet company before I ship...
I bought some "quiet play" drumsticks from a guy I met a few blocks who developed & patented this product. I hadn't played drums since a Christmas party because of fears of bothering the neighbors. I set up & shot a quick video to offer my new friend to help him promote his great new product. He already has clips of some exceptionally talented guys playing these sticks on his website, but he had asked, so I got out the camera & shot my first little goof off sessions of the year!
Thanks to a link in a tweet from my friend, business associate & Real Estate professional Craig Haueisen, I can help shed some light on the meaning & value of "Social Networking"
I followed Craig's link to another link it contained that led to the video below. It outlines what is fairly basic information, (& almost 2 years old already) but it is also a fairly new concept for some people, so I'd like to share it here. It comes from Lee LeFever of CommonCraft.com
The sign business is all about communication.
Specifically visual communication! This blog follows the conventions of a typical weblog & is a more nuts and bolts assortment of articles & posts that consists of primarily written material.
The nuts and bolts of any communication message is always an important foundation, but the bells and whistles have their place as well. As a visual arts industry, we are proud to showcase the images that have built this business & built up the loyal clientele we enjoy.
How better to showcase our graphic abilities than to create a graphic intensive...
